Lynn Britt and Stage One Theater company. ( New
England talent )
In 2003 BlackStripe had
approached Lynn Britt regarding the review and training of one
of our actresses for our feature " The Silver Tree ".
After reviewing the actress. She suggested that BlackStripe
under her supervision should shoot a promotional video with
an actress that she had trained. She stated that she would assist
us to prepare a production package containing a video, script, and
production photographs for her to send out to her many industry
contacts for review or possible investment in the production. We
agreed. After five months of shooting and consultation. I
personally delivered the packages to her. ( In the midst of a snowstorm
I might add. )
After receiving said packages.
Ms. Britt delayed for over a month before a single copy was sent out
and no documentation was ever presented to us regarding receipt or
review. When approached Ms. Britt continued reassuring us that the
packages would be sent shortly. After repeated attempts to asses the
status of packages. I received a message from her nasty tempered
personal assistant. Stating that The Packages would be sent back to me
and that I should simply go away.
Needless to say that I was
furious. Lynn Britt charged BlackStripe video for
over $1400.00 during our interaction with her. We spent
another $3500 producing the short video and production
package under Lynn Britts specifications. Under
the agreement that she approach a MINIMUM of ten
investors with said package.( I have this in writing, and have
acquired the audio taped interview with Ms. Britt from a reporter at
the
Norwich Bulletin. she says the same thing on the
tape. ) . She agreed to deliver to
BlackStripe-Video documentation stating either
interest or disinterest in the movie. So that we may be
better able to assess it's marketability and if necessary make
improvements on it , or to enter negotiations with said investors if
they found it appealing.
After three months of waiting.
Lynn sent back a letter saying that she was no longer interested in
representing the project, and was sending back the packages.
I threatened legal action,
but all phone calls were unreturned. mail ignored. So I filed a
motion against her in small claims court for the money she charged
us for rehearsal, acting lessons, and consultation. After the
motion was filed. I was contacted by her legal representative. He asked
if I was willing to settle. I agreed. Signing an agreement that I
may never sue her for anything prior to that date.
I had considered the matter
closed, but now feel the need to share my side of the story
with anyone who is interested. I find Ms. Britt to be friendly on
the surface. Acting very grandiose and influential to any
actor or producer whom she thinks she can scam for a paycheck. When all
is said and done. It is from my personal interaction with her
that I would never again recommend her to any
actor. I do not consider her a woman of her word,
and suggest not doing business with her to others.
I state that the above is my
opinion and I would repeat said story under oath. ( or polygraph for
that matter ) I would be more than happy to appear in a court of
law, because I believe that the preceding is not in any way untrue.
Therefore it does not qualify as
Slander : A False statement or
report.
Libel : To Misrepresent
Fallacious : Deceptive; Misleading
If Ms. Britt or any of her
associates would like to incur the legal costs of taking me to court
for my opinion regarding this issue. I embrace the opportunity. As it
would give me the chance to tell the truth to even more people.
