The third in a short but growing line
of supposed costume designers for Future Grey.
Amy Gurian is yet another example the fine bullshit artists we seem to
cultivate in New England. She was hired back in July to make three
costumes for my production " Future Grey " we were supposed to
start filming in August. She arrived through a referral from one
of the actors in the movie. Came to the cast read and took
measurements for all my actors. Detailed measurements I might add, and
I thought to myself. " Self ! Maybe this one can make it happen "
She agreed to $200 a costume and to get the costumes done by the top
of August. Needless to say. This didn't happen. She scheduled
then canceled. Scheduled then canceled.
Long story short. Two and a half moths passed before I received my
final product.
This was on October 1st.
I had to drive to her residence in Providence to collect what she
had finished and it wasn't much. One and a half costumes that were
barely passable at best. Lipstick and coffee stains. Unfinished hems.
Handed over crumpled up in a plastic bag. Needless to say I was
not happy. Still not in fact.
If she would have met her deadlines and kept her word. She could have
made a few thousand off this project alone. As it was I gave her $300
for the costume and a half and still feel like I was ripped off.
As it stands now. We have to modify what she gave us, and finish the
rest of the costumes ourselves. We missed our shooting window and even
at the end I gave her a chance to make things right. I told her that if
she wants to continue. To email me the material costs for what
remained. No email ever arrived as expected.
The real topper about this was the verbal spewing she gave me every
time we talked. She would constantly assess that she was FABULOUS, but
I guess she was. A fabulous liar, a fabulous flake, and a fabulous
waste of time.
Hire her at your own risk.
